I Edition OPPTA Competition. First Call. 2011-2012 Competition The initiative of the OPPTA Competition is detection, deliberation and intervention in emergencies and contingencies throughout the continent. As the network of observers has detected successive natural disasters, the solving of these emergencies has become a primary issue among the themes of necessary action. Thus, the first theme for action of the OPPTA 2011-2012 Competition is: Emergency Interventions. The specific scheme launched by OPPTA proposes a simultaneous competition in various locations throughout the American continent, defining the particulars of each country, geographic region or specific location. The proposed locations are areas of risk or emergency situations where intervention will be through immediate action, protocols or prototype actions and the planning of affected areas at a territorial, infrastructural and architectural level. The Competition Emergency Interventions will propose a catalogue of possible actions at a technical, territorial, infrastructural or architectural level based upon the proposals and considerations of the contestants, as well as the subsequent analysis of the jury and the technical assessors. This will constitute an archive of ideas and proposals for the purpose of minimizing risks and increasing the response capacity in plans of action, prevention and emergency.
